2022 breast and cervix cancer screening campaign

In honor of the International Women’s Day, in association with the Junior Chamber International (http://www.jci.cc/fr) and other partners, BANK OF AFRICA (via BOA Foundation or the subsidiaries directly), is once again running a breast and cervical cancer screening campaign in disadvantaged areas, for the 7th consecutive year.

For this 7th edition, we have 8 participating subsidiaries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, the DRC and Senegal).

Over a 6-year period, about 30,000 women have benefitted from the free screening, and about 5% of whom required further medical assessments.

Remember that breast cancer is the leading cause of death amongst African women, while that of the cervix is the second most common cancer. Nearly 80% of deaths occur in low-income countries, where access to screening and treatment is limited.

The initiative received significant coverage on classic media (press, radio and TV), social media, as well as through outreach activities, point of sale advertising material, launch ceremonies and press conferences.

Through this Public Health initiative, BANK OF AFRICA Group reaffirms its commitment to social responsibility.
