OUR NETWORK

Today, BANK OF AFRICA Foundation consists of a network of dynamic and impactful local foundations, federated by a central support structure and joint strategic thinking. Seven structures are currently active in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Madagascar, Niger and Senegal.

The strength of BANK OF AFRICA Foundation lies in its proximity to local populations, the voluntary and unconditional commitment of its members and the distribution of its activities throughout the territory of the countries where it operates – supported by the network of the bank branches.

GOVERNANCE

With decades of experience and its local presence, BANK OF AFRICA Foundation was restructured in 2019 to create a network of dynamic and impactful foundations, federated by two central bodies, the General Secretariat of the Foundations for operational follow-up and the Foundation Council for strategic orientation. The Board is composed of representatives of the Group’s General Management, the Chairmen of the 7 BOA Foundations and the Directors of the home banks.

In each country of operations, a volunteer Executive Office represents the Foundation legally, develops projects and supervises the implementation of activities. There are about 40 Directors and of BOA Group staff members who ensure the good governance of BANK OF AFRICA Foundation across the BOA Group network.

HISTORY

Created in 1999 in Benin, BANK OF AFRICA Foundation has inspired other countries in the region and was quickly established within the bank’s subsidiaries in Mali, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Senegal, Niger and Côte d’Ivoire. The Foundation is currently present in seven countries in the continent and aims to extend its activities to all the countries within the BANK OF AFRICA network.

In 2019, the Foundation General Secretariat was created in Casablanca to unite local foundations by creating a central structure to coordinate the network, support transversal activities and joint reflection. The establishment of general guidelines, pooling of resources and centralization of certain procedures and arbitrations aim to reinforce the coherence, visibility and impact of the Foundations’ activities.
